Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion is a cosmetic non-surgical procedure for the treatment of facial scarring (such as mild acne scarring), improvement of the signs of aging (such as fine lines) and sun exposure.

Microdermabrasion is a procedure where the dead outer layer of the skin is slowly removed by using sterile micro-crystals onto the skin's surface to gently exfoliate the scale-like, dead skin cells and then the crystals are suctioned away to reveal a fresh, invigorated skin surface.

Treatment of Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion is a safe procedure, less bleeding and fewer complications in comparison with traditional dermabrasion. Microdermabrasion is performed in spas and doctors offices.

No local anesthesia is needed. Non-invasive and non-wounding to the skin's surface, the procedure entails minimal risk and patient downtime. There may be some mild discomfort during treatment.

Treatments are a series of approximately 5 sessions, usually at 1 to 2 week intervals. Follow-up care may include monthly maintenance sessions.

People typically experience some redness for about an hour after the procedure.

It has the advantage of being very gentle on the skin.

Cost of Microdermabrasion

Costs can vary depending on where you live. Approximately $75 to $220 and up per microdermabrasion treatment. 6 or more treatments may be needed. Prices may not include other miscellaneous costs.

Always discuss full details of this procedure with a qualified, experienced board-certified physician / plastic surgeon.
